Late entry, oops. I went to see this with a friend of mine, and I thought it was pretty okay. He was terrified! Normally it's the other way around with us and scary movies. From what I hear, that's just how it is with this one; men are scared, women aren't? I thought it was a bit over the top with the grossness of it. I guess I found it more disgusting than scary, especially with that sandwich. It felt a bit like the director had a 'crazy BPD girlfriend' experience, empathised with her after the fact, and made a movie about it. I dunno. Not for me. Too yucky and a bit dull in plot/scare factor.
I absolutely loved this movie. I went into it expecting a pretty standard sci-fi action type thing, which was entirely wrong. I haven't read the book, and I don't really know anything about it, but now I am considering it. One of my friends dragged me out to see it, and by the end of it I had given myself pins and needles from suspense-squeezing his hand. I loved the way Rocky and Grace communicated, and how you were just as in the dark as Grace was about whether he was friendly or not. The ending was really nice, I thought. How even though he got so happy to realise he'd go home, he still chose to help another thing at his own expense, just because it was the right thing to do, and how he gets to go back to teaching. Wonderful movie. Haven't seen something this good in a very very long time.
